Senior Unix Administrator (AIX/Solaris) | MSKCC | Lyndhurst, NJ
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is a world renowned organization
dedicated to the progressive control and cure of cancer through programs
of patient care, research, and education.
You will participate in the development and support of Open Systems
architecture and strategy across a very large multi-vendor platform
environment (IBM, Sun, HP, EMC, et cetera).
Specific responsibilities include:
- Responsible for installing and managing IBM AIX and Sun Solaris
systems.
- Implement High Availability and systems recovery solutions for AIX and
Solaris systems.
- Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while performing other
job responsibilities.
- Provide in-house consulting services for systems design, platform
selection, and hardware/software implementation.
- Interface with vendors to resolve complex technical hardware and
software issues.
We require:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or related field.
- A minimum of 10 to 12 years prior work experience in data processing.
- In-depth, detailed knowledge of IBM AIX and Sun Solaris Operating
systems internals and systems administration in a medium-to-large UNIX
environment;
- Hands-on experience configuring and using NIM and Jumpstart
- Experience with AIX Logical Partitions (LPARs) and VIO
- Experience setting up High Availability clusters using IBM HACMP.
- Hands-on experience and knowledge of current UNIX server architecture,
EMC SAN technologies and, Networking interfaces.
- Korn/Bourne shell scripting.
- Experience in OS performance tuning and systems security
- Open Systems hardware and software diagnostic skills and good
electrical safety skills for working within a data center.
The following skill sets are highly desirable and preferred:
- Experience with IBM Websphere Suite, Websphere Application Server
(WAS), Websphere Data Interchange (WDI)
- Knowledge of current Open source technologies (such as Apache
Webserver, Tomcat, JBOSS)
- Programming experience (Perl, Java, Python)
- Experience with Web technologies, SSL certificates, Reverse Proxies,
et cetera.
- Knowledge of Relational Database technology (RDBMS).
- Strong documentation skills.
Hours: 9:00AM-5:00PM, Monday-Friday. Must be able to get to the Data
Center, located in Lyndhurst, NJ and be on call when not on scheduled
absence. Frequent off-hours work due to the 24x7 nature of the Data
Center service-level requirements. Periodic attendance of meeting at
MSKCC New York City locations is required.
